Grand Lake boating accident victims identified
Two people who were killed in a boating accident on Grand Lake on Tuesday evening have been identified as Rachel Nicole Swetnam, of Grove, Okla., and William Lewis Varner III, of Texarkana, Ark., according to a statement released Wednesday by the Grand River Dam Authority.

Miami bomb threat defendant granted probation
A federal judge granted probation Tuesday to a defendant who created a bomb scare at Miami High School on Sept. 11 of last year in an apparent attempt to extort money from a local bank. At a sentencing hearing in U.S. District Court in Tulsa, Chief Judge Gregory Frizzell ordered that Bobby Ray Harris, 26, serve eight months of home detention and five years on probation on a conviction for willfully making a threat.

Shooting probe on hold; police wait to speak with wounded man
A young man who was shot in the chest during a confrontation with others at a Joplin residence early Monday morning is expected to survive. Police on Tuesday identified the man wounded in a shooting at a residence on East Sunny Acres Lane as Justin S. Johnson, 25, of Carterville.
