State chamber cites Able Manufacturing
Able Manufacturing and Assembly of Joplin has been chosen by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry as one its 2008 Fast Track winners, according to Jim Schwarz, president and chief executive officer for Able.
The Missouri Chamber Fast Track Award is presented annually to Missouri companies that have experienced dramatic growth over the past three years.
The honor will be presented at the Missouri chamber’s annual meeting and banquet Nov. 20 in St. Louis.
Joplin Jayceesreceive honors
The Joplin chapter of the Jaycees received numerous awards during the Fall State Board Meeting and Convention last month in Kansas City.
The Joplin Jaycees received a fifth-place award for “Top Recruiting Chapter” and another fifth-place honor for “Top Growth Chapter” for the second trimester.
The Joplin group also was named “Outstanding Local Chapter” for July and received first-place honors during the “Parade of Chapters” for the second trimester.
Colt Energy sellsheavy oil assets
Colt Energy Inc., along with its subsidiaries Colt Natural Gas and Colt Pipeline, has announced the sale of 50 percent interest in Colt’s Liberty coal-bed methane and its Missouri heavy oil assets to Blue Tip Missouri Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Tip Energy Partners Fund I.
The Liberty coal-bed asset consists of 71 producing wells, 31 miles of pipeline and more than 30,000 acres of mainly undeveloped coal-bed methane reserves.
The Missouri heavy oil asset consists of about 97,000 acres that have produced more than 1 million barrels of oil.
Colt operates throughout eastern Kansas and western Missouri.

People in business* Boyd Poirier has joined Hurst-Rosche Engineers Inc. and its subsidiary L&L Surveys as a senior project manager and engineer in the Neosho office.
Poirier is a professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience in health care, education and in the public sector.
Hurst-Rosche has more than 90 professionals serving in the fields of engineering, architecture, structural, environmental, survey and construction administration.
The office in Neosho has been in operation for more than 50 years, primarily as L&L Surveys Inc.

* Shona Daniels-Hackett has joined HealthSource of Joplin.
Daniels-Hackett graduated in 2001 from the White River School of Massage Therapy in Fayetteville, Ark., and has worked in the Joplin area for the past seven years.
Her areas of experience include sport and medical massage, pain management, stress reduction, and fibromyalgia.
