Branson again nixes outdoor Nelly concert

BRANSON, Mo. — Branson city officials have again said no to a proposed outdoor concert by hip-hop artist Nelly.

The city’s aldermen voted unanimously Tuesday not to allow the Aug. 21 concert behind the renovated Grand Palace.

Concert organizer Paul Dunn announced on July 4 that Nelly would perform as part of the reopening of the Grand Palace. But the city on July 9 denied a special event permit, citing concerns about parking, crowd control and noise.

On Tuesday, alderman said they were still not satisfied that those concerns had been addressed.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that an attorney for Grand Palace officials said the dispute will now go to Taney County Circuit Court.
