Boyd Metals holds ribbon cutting today for new expansion

From staff reports

JOPLIN, Mo. — Boyd Metals has scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 11:30 a.m. today for its new 10,000-square-foot expansion at its site at 1100 Wall Ave., in Joplin.

The additional space will be used to house a broader and deeper inventory of aluminum and stainless steel, the company said  in making its announcement.

Material will be stored in an automated vertical storage system designed for management, collection and quick retrieval of any product. All sheet products will be handled with a vacuum lift to ensure surface quality and plans call for the installation of an automatic overlay laminator for applying a PVC coating to sheets upon customer request.

The upcoming expansion will increase the total square footage of the Joplin site to approximately 63,000 square feet.

“It is only due to the support we continue to receive from our customer base that we are able to continue to grow and expand,” Audie Dennis, vice president and general manager of the Joplin site, said in a statement. “We feel this addition, and the expanded inventory of non-ferrous metals it will allow, will position us for continued future growth.”

Boyd Metals is a full-line metals service center with locations in Joplin, Fort Smith and Little Rock in Arkansas, and in Oklahoma City.
