U.S. Bank awards $22,539 in grants to local United Way

JOPLIN, Mo. — U.S. Bank in the Joplin region and the U.S. Bancorp Foundation announced Thursday that they are awarding $22,539 to United Way of Southwest Missouri & Southeast Kansas.

The U.S. Bancorp Foundation will provide a $10,500 grant that will be presented at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9,  at the the United Way office, 3510 E. Third St.

 “In addition, we are awarding $12,039 in contributions and/or pledges made by the U.S. Bank staff members from the Joplin region,” Clifford Wert, regional president for U.S. Bank, said in a statement.

The bank in making the announcement said the donation is part of its commitment to give back to the community, and provides support to United Way’s mission in the area.

Bev Crespino-Graham, executive director of United Way of Southwest Missouri & Southeast Kansas, thanked bank officials, and said in a statement, “ ... U.S. Bank is among one of the local companies that conducts workplace campaigns to raise much needed financial support for programs in the community.”

Last year, local United Way-funded programs provided more than 129,000 residents in Jasper and Newton counties in Missouri and Crawford and Cherokee counties in Kansas with health and human services.
