Downstream’s new hotel is open

QUAPAW, Okla. — The new, $50 million, 152-room Kappa Hotel is open at Downstream Casino Resort, in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The new hotel is six stories tall.

It’s the second hotel at Downstream, owned by the Quapaw Tribe and located west of Joplin on Interstate 44. The original hotel, which opened along with the casino in 2008, has 222 rooms.

The new hotel added around 100 employees to the Downstream payroll.

Among the 152 rooms are 12 single-room luxury suites; four two-room luxury suites; and two 1,500-square-foot hospitality suites.

With the addition of the new hotel, Downstream also has expanded its market reach beyond the previous 100-mile radius.
