(AP) — A report by the Missouri Department of Economic Development says employers are working hard to fill jobs in health care and social assistance.

But the report says finding applicants with the right interpersonal skills is proving to be a challenge.

Employers were surveyed about job openings last year by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Employers listed interpersonal skills as important for 85 percent of their openings. But they reported that 63 percent of applicants lacked a positive attitude, 58 had poor customer service skills and 54 percent had bad communication skills.
