JOPLIN, Mo. —
The 21st annual Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo is scheduled for Jan. 22-23 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. The event draws up to 6,000 visitors and there will be a full house of exhibitors, according to the chamber.
The expo is a chance for businesses to showcase new products and services, and this year more than 200 exhibitors have signed up, according to Kirstie Smith, communications director for the chamber.
“Joplin Rocks and the Future is on a Roll,” will be theme this year, Smith said.
The exhibitor showcase is open to the business community from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, with Business Expo After Hours set for 5 to 8 p.m., when local restaurants also will offer samples. There will be a silent auction throughout the day and a live auction begins at 7:15 p.m.
“(There is) no cost for that as long as you have a business card,” said Smith.
The exhibitor showcase will open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. The cost of admission is $5 per person, but children age 5 and under are free.
“On Wednesday, the public can register for a vacation get-away,” said Smith.
The Joplin Host Lions Club also will be selling food during the expo.
Parking is available on the west parking lot of the Holiday Inn Convention Center. Shuttles provided by Crossroads Chevrolet also will run from the Sam’s Club parking lot.
