NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures continue to point to a higher opening after a new report showed retail sales rebounded in October, rising more than expected.

Overseas markets are higher.

The Commerce Department says retail sales rose 1.4 percent in October, much higher than the 0.8 percent economists predicted and the 2.3 percent decline in September. Sales were boosted by a sharp increase in auto sales.

Excluding autos, sales rose 0.2 percent, weaker than the 0.4 percent increase economists expected.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 44, or 0.4 percent, at 10,286. Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures are up 7.40, or 0.7 percent, at 1,098.80, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are up 11.75, or 0.7 percent, at 1,800.00.
