Private jet firm locating at Lambert

ST. LOUIS — The former Missouri Air National Guard facility at Lambert Airport in St. Louis is getting new life.

City and civic leaders announced Wednesday that the private jet company Jet Linx will operate out of the site abandoned when the Air National Guard office closed in 2009 after 86 years of operation.

Before the Guard’s arrival, Charles Lindbergh flew out of the same location on the St. Louis-to-Chicago mail run, prior to his famous trans-Atlantic flight in 1927.

Jet Linx is investing more than $1 million to lease the seven-acre site, and plans to spend another $1 million on improvements. The company expects to create 100 jobs.

St. Louis is the ninth location for Jet Linx.
