BAXTER SPRINGS, KS —

Urshel Lee Miller, 77, of Baxter Springs, Kan., passed away at his home on Jan. 2, 2013, following a long illness.

Urshel was a laundry and grocery route man for many years. When he "retired" he took up lawn care for many residents in the area. His favorite job of all was at the Little League Park where he umpired games for as long as anyone can remember. He was well-known throughout the town.

Urshel was born July 23, 1935, to Maudene E. and Urshel C. Miller. He has one sister, Anita Pierson, of Nowata, Okla. She survives.

Urshel met and married his wife, Joann in May of 1958. She also survives. Together they share four children, Dewayne Miller, Usheila Miller, Rick Miller and Virginia Miller Strecker, all of the Baxter Springs area. Urshel has 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, at the Trinity Worship Center, followed by a memorial service.

Service is under the direction of Abbott Funeral Home, Baxter Springs.
