An autopsy is being performed today on Eddie A. Salazar, the 8-month-old infant whose body was discovered Saturday in Spring River east of Carthage.
The Jasper County Prosecutor Dean Dankelson said investigators are awaiting autopsy results before filing further charges against the boy’s 29-year-old father, also named Eddie Salazar. The father is currently charged with making a false report to law-enforcement officers.
The father called 911 late Thursday night and reported the baby abducted by one or two masked men who entered his home at 227 E. Mound St. The report triggered an Amber Alert and a massive search for the infant and his abductors.
Dankelson said this morning that additional charges could be filed after the preliminary findings of the autopsy are known. The prosecutor believed it was more likely those charges would be filed Tuesday than today.
