Published January 29, 2007 11:48 pm - Voices: Desperate cry I want to give out a desperate cry. We know the freezing weather and electric outages called for some desperate measures.
We ( the family of Tom and Sharon Fisher) ask you to really think before you use any generators. Know the proper places to put the generators and have plenty of ventilation. The best thing to have in a house is a carbon-monoxide detector. If you do not, you could expose yourself to the deadly fumes of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a deadly gas that can not be seen or ever smelled. It just helps to cradle you asleep forever. My uncle was killed this month by this deadly killer. My aunt was rushed to the emergency room and was lying in intensive care fighting for her life. She has just recently been released from ICU. The only thing that really helped in the rescue of Sharon Fisher was the persistence of her daughter calling other friends and family. She finally got the police involved and after a few tries of calling them, they went and checked on them. When they arrived at the house, they found my uncle already dead and my aunt was unconscious in her bedroom. So this winter, please, if you have to: Go to a shelter, another family member’s or a friend’s house… please do. It is better to be warm and safe, than to be cold in your house. If for any reason you think something could be wrong with family, friends or the elderly, try to get ahold of them. It could be the only thing saving someone’s life. My family and I would also like to give a grateful thank you for all those who helped in the rescue of my Aunt Sharon and for those who have and are taking very good care of her recovery duty to assist, especially the 203rd Engineer Battalion.
