A big thank you to Stacie Mitchell for her letter (Globe, April 22).
Ozark Center, Ozark Center, Ozark Center, all we hear about is Ozark Center for Autism.
My wife and I also have a child with high-functioning autistic disorder. Judevine Center for Autism has been in Joplin for years and was started in St. Louis years earlier by a mother who has an autistic child. Judevine has to struggle for funding while Ozark Center gets funding from the state. Then to add insult to injury, Ozark Center has groups hold fund-raisers for them.
For years, I worked with individuals in the autism spectrum that were helped by Judevine, not Ozark Center. It is time someone mentioned Judevine. It is time Judevine gets noticed. I have never seen any articles in the Globe on Judevine Center for Autism — but sure have on Ozark Center for Autism.
Thank you to Lyndsey, Tracy and everyone at Judevine for a job well done. Let’s give credit where credit is due.
