Voices: Donations and comments

This letter is in response to the many donations Roaring River Parks Alliance has received. We appreciate the concerned residents who also consider “clean water” a high priority.

Following are some excerpts from the letters that were enclosed with the donations:

“We’ve always loved Roaring River, and we continue to go there with our grandsons who love to fish for trout. It is a beautiful scenic park.”

“Keep up the good work. I’m tired of watching the Ozarks being polluted and the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) helping.”

“As a person who raised our children and grandchildren — teaching them to fish at Roaring River State Park, I am certainly glad to see your organization taking up the fight against the DNR and their callous disregard for our parks.”

“Enclosed is our contribution to your efforts to protect the park. My husband and I have hiked the trails there and enjoyed the view from the overlook above the spring. We are dismayed by the DNR’s lack of responsibility and we encourage the alliance to persevere.”

“Enclosed is my check toward your endeavors in eradication of the CAFO, which will be polluting Roaring River and other tributaries in the area. Until I took a master naturalist course last year, I wasn’t that educated in the amount of damage and pollution any such CAFO would cause.”

“We appreciate your efforts to protect Roaring River State Park and Table Rock Lake from further water pollution.”

Recently, RRPA has been approved as a non-profit organization with a 501C3 status that allows the contributions given to be tax-deductible. Our mission statement is “to preserve, defend and protect Missouri’s historical sites, state parks and natural resources.”

At the present time, we are taking water samples for the Lake Missouri Volunteer Program, and we are forming a stream team. We will be volunteering at Youth Day at Roaring River State Park on May 17. If you have questions or would like information about the organization, please call (417) 271-4075 or 271-3180.

Our Web site is www.rrpa.info and our address for donations is Roaring River Parks Alliance, P.O. Box 214, Eagle Rock, MO 65641.
