Voices: Stupid measure

Hillary has proposed a gasoline sales-tax holiday from Memorial Day until Labor Day, which sounds good until she tells you that she wants the oil companies to “reimburse” the government for the lost revenue because of the holiday that she has proposed, not the oil companies.
Then she has also stated that she wants to take tens of millions of dollars of profit from the oil companies. Anyone who knows anything about a business like the oil companies knows any expenses they have, they pass on to the customer. For an example look at Empire District wanting a rate hike to cover the money they lost during the power outages. It has been said that the average savings each person will see from this tax holiday will be $28 over the entire summer.
I predict that if the sales-tax holiday comes to pass, gas prices will rise up so that we pay more over the summer than what we would have if we didn’t have the holiday. If the government wants to do something, then open up the wells in Texas, Oklahoma and elsewhere where the wells have been plugged for decades, and start using our oil instead of importing it from overseas, where they can set prices so high that it damages our economy.
Please write to Washington and tell them we don’t want to pay for the tax holiday with higher gas prices because of a stupid measure taken by Washington.
