Voices: The real Obama

For all his big promises, Barack Obama is showing his true colors. He is not promoting bipartisanship or transparency in his administration. In his effort to control what type of energy we use in homes, what temperature we set in our homes, what type of light bulbs we use in our homes and business, what type of car we should drive, and what type of fuel industries should use, Obama and his administration suppressed a report that was skeptical of global warming.

As a matter of fact, the report listed a number of recent developments such as “global temperatures have declined for 11 years”; that “global temperatures are roughly where they were in the mid-20th century”; and that “solar radiation has the largest single effect on the Earth’s temperature” (not mankind). This report was suppressed in order to pass the huge climate bill that will not only hurt our industries, but will create big energy taxes for all of us. Where was Obama’s promised transparency?

In another instance, Obama fired Inspector General Gerald Walpin. Walpin was investigating Kevin Johnson, St. Hope Academy (founded by Kevin Johnson), and the former executive director Dana Gonzalez, citing numerous potential criminal and grant violations, including diversion of federal grant funds, and misuse of AmeriCorps members. St. Hope Academy and Johnson were ordered to reimburse more than $423,000 in federal funds. It should be noted that Johnson is an ally of Obama.

Inspectors general are to be independent and nonpartisan. Mr. Walpin displayed these traits in his tenure as inspector general. According to the 2008 Inspector General Reform Act, Obama should have communicated in writing the reasons for any removal or transfer to both houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer. Obama failed to follow the law.

These are just a few examples of some of the things Obama has done. This is still the United States of America, and the legislators who swear to uphold the Constitution should do so, or be run out of office.
