John Cragin’s latest letter dealing with carbon dioxide does not actually suggest the Phlogiston theory was right all the time, but does strongly hearken to Mr. Church’s letter that yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. The spirit of Santa Claus may be perennial, but after quoting facts sort of detailing cyclic features of climate, he completely disregards numbers and conditions that are “worsening” and have the appearance and likelihood of having considerable permanence.
There is a growing number of people with no “ax to grind” who see otherwise, and it is difficult to understand both his intransigence and the Globe’s willingness to publish the letter with the heading that does not appropriately reflect the opinion element of the letter.
