Today is that day.
The city of Joplin is hosting the summit at Memorial Hall. It begins at 5:30 p.m. with a “get-acquainted” time, followed by a 6:30 start.
Some 14 speakers, representing agencies or ministries, are on the agenda.
So, why do they need you?
First of all, the scope of Joplin’s homeless problem goes beyond a single solution. It even goes beyond the services available in Joplin.

So, why do they need you?
First of all, the scope of Joplin’s homeless problem goes beyond a single solution. It even goes beyond the services available in Joplin.
The city’s approach tonight is simply to bring together those in the business of caring for the homeless. An inventory of services will be available to everyone who walks through the door so they can see where resources already exist.
We don’t expect there to be instant answers to the problem, but we would at least hope Joplin could go ahead with a better focus on how to help some 300 to 400 people without homes.
At the end of the meeting, there will be a sign-up list for those who are willing to commit their time and talents to the problem.
Today is the day to get involved.
