Voices: Opportunity is here A comment on the Globe story of June 23 about Saudi Arabia making a “vague output pledge”: The subject of the meeting was the production of crude oil, not a cure for cancer.
The natural resources of a country offer a capitalistic opportunity to develop and market a product. The United States has natural resources to develop to supply the needs of the United States and others, the same as Saudi Arabia. The United States has many companies capable of this productivity, the profits staying here in jobs and industrial development, plus providing a competitive product to consumers. Where is the political and corporate leadership and management? This should be a competitive opportunity for the people and corporate members of our society, not the politicians, traders and speculators here and around the world. When this country started, before the revolution, I don’t think our leadership sat around talking about a “Boston Tea Party” with a $50 cup of tea. They said enough! D.K. Tope Joplin
