Voices: Misprint irony

December 12, 2007 11:06 pm

The irritation of another misprint in an article (“The Missouri Air CONVERSATION Commission ...” Globe, Dec. 7) quickly gave way to a quite fitting irony.
Along with the equally impotent Department of Natural Resources, all that really ever does get done at these meetings IS conversation, as it’s much more important to cave in to industry and agriculture special interests than to worry about something as pesky as conservation and the public good.
There’s only one thing that stinks worse than the Carthage industrial basin or the dozens of CAFOs already in place: the hot air released as these agencies try to justify their incompetence.
