JOPLIN, Mo. —
Where are our politicians’ morals, support of the Constitution, and the betterment of the citizens and the United States?
Are they more interested in their incomes and the political party that they come from than they are in the preservation of the Constitution, helping the poor, and in keeping this country strong?
Are not most of them Christians and ex-military? If so, don’t the words of the Bible have meaning to them? If my memory serves me right, the Bible says to help the poor, the downtrodden and our fellow man. If so, why are so many of the politicians trying to strip the lower classes of what little dignity and money they have? Why are they so careless with our Constitution? Don’t they understand that if you don’t give something to others it will sooner or later be taken from you? When President George W. Bush passed the Homeland Security Act, taking the right for noncitizen terrorists to be held without speedy trial and no legal representative, did he not understand that this right is what makes our basic human rights so superior to most other nations? Why did President Obama not veto this former bill on these grounds alone? This oversight is like a stop sign. Once it is placed your decision is no longer valid. You must obey even if the coast is clear, or suffer the consequences.
I am just hoping that the new candidates for seats in our country will just tell me what they plan to do and how, in detail, they propose to do it. Please stop assuming I am ignorant and easily fooled by false and/or childish remarks that will make me vote for you.
Please show me the dignity and respect of giving me the facts, and let me sort out what I believe is the best for my country and fellow man. As our forefathers so eloquently put it, if you give the American people the truth, they will most of the time come up with the right answer.
So where are our good honest American patriots who truly believe in their country and fellow man? Where are those who would give their life to make this country great and not their party or their own pocketbook? Would they please step forward and tell me exactly what they are going to do?

This isn’t the column I had planned on writing, but it’s the one that keeps running through my mind. And so does this question: How do I cope on my first Father’s Day without my dad?
