I am a candidate for the Joplin School District Board of Education. I have worked in our schools for 30 years as both a custodian and a building engineer. My wife currently works in our district and my three children attended our public schools.
My platform for necessary change is based on four principles:
* Better use of our financial resources, to provide the best education for our students. We must make good use of every dollar.
* Better use of in-district knowledge and expertise. We must actively seek input from others, not just the superintendent and administrators.
* Better use of public and taxpayer knowledge and expertise. We must all work together as a community to make our children succeed.
* Better preparation of our students to succeed in a global economy. We must use only the best practices in classrooms to ensure our graduates succeed.
