Your view: Newsworthy

WEBB CITY, Mo. — George Jones died on April 26. This was rightly covered on radio, television and a large article in The Joplin Globe.

George Jones was a very talented singer and deserved the coverage and will be greatly missed.

However, George Beverly Shea died in April.

Mr. Shea was 104 years old, worked with Billy Graham for over 60 years as a gospel singer, sang in every state in the Union and on every continent.

He was certainly a talented singer and an important part of the Billy Graham crusades where many people heard the gospel preached.

I did not hear anything on radio or television nor did I read anything in The Joplin Globe about his passing.

It would seem to me that this is just as important news as George Jones passing away.

If nothing else, he lived to be 104 years old. This alone should be newsworthy, yet the news media seems to have bypassed this story.

Is this fair to the Christian community or is it biased reporting, because he was an outstanding Christian?
