JOPLIN, Mo. —
It was with appreciation and a sense of wonderment that I read Kelly Meares’ letter (Globe, April 1) indicting shallow and fearful public thinking on the issue of penknives on airplanes.
The observation that the singular 9/11 attack was ruinously and needlessly costly could not be more true, and not only in trillions of dollars, I might add, but in blood and treasure wasted in Iraq. It is delightful to know that such exceptional insight exists out there in the readership. Thanks, Kelly. We need more like you.
