LAMAR, Mo. —
I am curious as to the Globe’s expression of “Legitimate outrage” in its Aug. 21 editorial.
I, even as a supporter of Todd Akin must say that I, too, was disappointed in his comment.
But many today who are asking why we are witnessing the death of civility and common fairness in our nation need to look at our mainstream media. With so many people exploiting our system to further their own agendas, it is tragic that the media refuses to set a better example. Those involved have somehow forgotten that as both the guardians and benefactors of the First Amendment, their duty is to expose truth, not advocate bias.
There is a quickness to pounce on the wrongs, and positions opposed to their agenda of what the Republicans do. But when a Democrat is guilty, the act is quickly excused away and consigned to an Orwellian “memory hole.” The glossing over of Joe Biden’s recent racial slur in attacking the Republican Party (even though, in all honesty, part of his comments that day were true) is a perfect example of this. A huge list could be compiled of other Obama-Biden lies, actions, and statements, but time would fail me. As our nation does seem headed over a cliff into an uncivilized abyss, you in the media need to ask yourselves if you want to push us over or be a restraining voice of reason.
