Your View: New territory

JOPLIN, Mo. — Not that there’s much more to say, but ...

Can we imagine Congress, immediately following prayer, calling Bob Uecker and Rodney Dangerfield to the podium and leading an across-the-aisle competition of: “Tastes great” — “Less filling!”; “Cuts deficit” — “Costs jobs!” And so on, for about 10 minutes?

The country really is in new territory now, but the team loyalty, vague beyond reason, has pretty much jaded most of us into distrust approaching disinterest. Maybe that helps explain why, in the absence of much tangible good news, the Dow proceeded merrily to a new high.
