Your View: So much for voting

JOPLIN, Mo. — The following quote The Joplin Globe (April 9) was attributed to a member of the Young Professional Network: “It (Tuesday’s vote) is definitely not the end of what we’re trying to do.”

What part of “no” do you not understand? To make matters worse, during a candidate’s forum, I kept hearing the word “progressive” from several of the candidates. Barack Obama is a progressive. Those who voted for him awakened far too late. If this progressivism is any indication of what the council means as Joplin being a progressive city, then the April 8 vote meant literally nothing and the views of the YPN are not the problem.

To make matters worse, there was little or no dissent concerning recycling from council candidates. When it goes through, I will pay even though I won’t use it. Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind the vote of the people is null and void. So much for the importance of voting.
