Your View: Tribute to the community

BOULDER CITY, Nev. — I was a member of the orchestra for Dr. Hubert Bird’s presentation of “The Other Side of Storm” on May 12.

It was an honor to be a participant, since I grew up near Joplin.

I think the highlight of the evening was observing the outstanding decorum and personal appearance of the various choirs of the surrounding area and to hear their outstanding performances, given in a most professional manner.

Many of the students have gone through miraculous personal survival and devastating loss of classmates and loved ones, so this tribute was very personal to them.

Their exemplary tribute to their communities and friends was heartwarming.

They did themselves and the organizations and people they represented proud, and they portrayed the spirit of Joplin in a most noteworthy manner.

Thank you, Dr. Bird, for a most significant contribution to your community.
