The old children’s nursery rhyme says, “If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride; if turnips were watches I’d wear one by my side.” That kind of reminds me of Congress, so a modern-day version might look like this:
“If health care reform was a cruise missile or a gigantic F-5;
“If national health insurance was for Pentagon funding and nation building abroad, then Congress would pass it, do you simply know why?
“Because in D.C., when it comes to money, it’s hard to find it to help people get on with their lives,
“But it is easy to find it to help people die.”
Peace, not war. Spend at home, not abroad.
