Your View: Ulterior motives

JOPLIN, Mo. — Until I see all the evidence, I will reserve judgment. Having worked several years for a law firm, I know that sometimes good people do things they shouldn’t in an effort to accomplish good things — not right, but not evil, either.

It looks to me as though there was a rush to judgment. I find it highly suspicious that the same five people who voted to fire Mark Rohr on Tuesday night are the same five who clearly have made that their goal and who previously engaged in a dishonest and illegal effort to do just that.

One has to question why Brian Head was suggested to replace Rohr by Benjamin Rosenberg in a resolution that clearly had to be prepared before the meeting. Supposedly only Head and the investigator knew what was in the report, so how was all this in place before the “reveal”?

I would suggest that the people of Joplin recall what a terrible mess this city was before Rohr came here. Before the tornado, he made absolutely outstanding improvements to the city. He was on the scene the minute after that terrible storm passed and has brought the city not only back but a good ways forward. If he made mistakes, we need to examine the intent before we get railroaded into accepting the actions of those who may have ulterior motives.
