Your View: All politics

LAMAR, Mo. — I opened my Globe on April 18 and saw, as expected, that Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., had voted against the gun bill.

Despite the pleas of the parents of the children in Newtown, Conn., Gabrielle Giffords and others, Blunt chose to side with the National Rifle Association, despite 9 out of 10 Americans favoring a gun bill.

This is all about politics. Our Second Amendment rights are not an issue at all, regardless of what the gun advocates would have us believe.

President Barack Obama was right to be angry when he called the vote a “shameful day for Washington.” I consider Blunt’s vote to be unconscionable and unacceptable. It should be remembered that Blunt also voted against the Violence Against Women Act. This guy should be run off.
