I worked with Larry Newman at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for several years. During a portion of that time, Larry and I were both assigned as detectives.
I always could depend on Larry to work hard. He impressed me with his constant concern to do the job right, no matter the political fallout. While working with Larry, I came to appreciate how much his earlier experiences working in the business world helped him not only communicate with crime victims, but also bring a new level of understanding to many costs that other, less experienced officers might not see. I also knew that when I moved up in rank, Larry was someone who would provide me with solid advice when leadership questions needed answering.
I have also witnessed Larry reach out to people to advise him when needed. Everyone knows it’s tough to ask for guidance for most people. I saw Larry act without concern for his ego. In my book, that’s an impressive measure.
There are currently three people seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff this August. All are experienced, and I know each one personally. Of the three, I support Larry Newman because he is the best candidate.
When you vote, remember you are voting for more than a name, you are voting the desire for integrity, fiscal responsibility and quality leadership.
