Your View: Thank you for the respect

HIAWATHA, IOWA — On March 19, my husband and I were in Joplin attending a funeral for my aunt, Kathleen Amber. While it was a sad occasion, there were some positive moments.

I would like to thank the following: the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary staff for caring; the Joplin Police Department; the Carthage Police Department; and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department for the police escort to Fasken Cemetery, east of Carthage.

We also want to thank the many people in cars who stopped when they met the funeral procession as well as the farmer who lives near the cemetery and stood with his hat over his heart while the line of cars drove by his home.

All of you might not have known my aunt, but you gave her your respect. She deserved it and earned it.
