Your View: Go ‘cool off’

JOPLIN, Mo. — I reside in Joplin and endured our tornado disaster more than a year ago. Immediately following that tornado our weather was very hot as well.

However our focus as a community was “digging out” from the disaster, weather not withstanding.

Our local provider of power, Empire District, ably assisted by many from outside Joplin did a magnificent job restoring power as soon as possible.

But you saw no newspaper headlines expressing “outrage” at the lack of power during the prolonged outage following our storm.

Some things are far more important than air conditioning and traffic lights. For those in the Mid-Atlantic expressing outrage at the lack of such a nicety, well you have the Potomac River or Rock Creek and they should go “cool off” therein.
