FACES OF RECOVERY: 176,869 volunteers help put Joplin together again

They initially came in droves, pouring into Joplin by the thousands during the months following the May 2011 tornado to clear debris, clean up damaged homes and businesses and distribute donations of food, water, clothing and other necessities.

Your View: Reminder

DIAMOND, Mo. — This letter is a reminder to all of the businesses that are wishing everyone a happy holiday season, neglecting to place Nativity scenes on display, not stocking Nativity scenes or religious ornaments for sale or playing traditional Christmas hymns in hopes of being all things to all people.

They are, in reality, not being truthful or factual with the American public.

The one and only reason for this special holy Christmas season is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Creator, Savior and Redeemer.

Let us rejoice and be glad. May all of you have a very blessed Christmas and forever after a faithful to God life here on earth.
