Your View: Don’t speed

JOPLIN, Mo. — To the individual driving the vehicle who came within 6 inches of my person before stopping on Friday, Feb. 8, in the crosswalk at 15th Street and Highview Avenue, I say: “Shame on you.” You were nowhere to be seen coming from the west when I entered the crosswalk.

To the rest of you, please do not speed in school zones and please watch for students/crossing guards in the designated crosswalks.

Of course you have, and odds are you picked up the phone and there was someone on the other end willing to help.

  • Your View: Critical issues

The people have spoken, loudly. The Joplin City Council, specifically the newest members, should bear in mind that they are not there for their agendas but rather to serve the people’s agenda.

Postcards mailed to the homes of those charged with trying to pick up prostitutes will offer a reminder about spreading sexually transmitted diseases, along with listing the court date.
