JOPLIN, Mo. —
I didn’t get much from Kevin Wilson’s hopelessly vague and wishy-washy column in Sunday’s Globe (“One comment shouldn’t indict entire GOP,” Sept. 9).
However, I did manage to pluck out his description of Todd Akin’s rape comments as a mere “gaffe,” ignoring that Akin’s so-called gaffe was based on the grotesque belief that women can magically ward off pregnancy from a “legitimate rape.” That’s like calling Mitt Romney’s frequent exercises in poor judgment as mere “flip-flops.”
This is one time I must agree with David Humphreys, a leading donor to Republican races, who called Akin “a moron.”
