I have never been to Arrow Rock but will make it a point to go. I am a member of Roaring River Parks Alliance, currently opposing the placement of a poultry CAFO near Roaring River State Park.
It is a real tragedy to see huge commercial animal operations destroying the environment in area after area. And if the pollution does not raise the ire of everyone near these places, the fact that they are depleting everyone’s water supply should! We frequently focus on the water pollution that is documented in any number of studies in several states. But there are real health issues with the air pollution, not to mention the quality of life when one must constantly inhale the noxious odors that emanate from these factory farms.
And finally, why do people continue to eat food that is produced in these places? Would you sprinkle a teaspoon of antibiotics and growth hormones on your child’s breakfast? I put my money where my mouth is, and I do not eat food from CAFOs. There are real farms and real farmers in the area. Make a difference, support them — not big business.
