Voices: Homeless veterans

I am heartsick to read some of the comments in your paper concerning the homeless. It seems as though the public doesn’t realize that most of the homeless are mentally ill and that a large majority of those are veterans who have given their all for this country. It is not that they “are lazy and don’t want to work.”

It seems we have a history here of sending our young men off to protect our country (whether in a valid war or not), and then treating them like garbage to be thrown away if they come back compromised, whether physically or mentally.
