Guest column, Kevin Rhinehart : We will answer for our actions

By Kevin Rhinehart

I have noticed that those involved in the “pro-choice” movement have done an outstanding job of twisting the language they use so that you don’t really understand what they are promoting.

While pro-choice sounds good and non-intrusive, at the same time harmless, it really isn’t what it proclaims itself to be at all. Their mantra states that the government has no right telling the woman that she can’t choose to do what she wants to with her body.

If that is their sole argument, let’s look at that closely. First, if she was removing an arm, a leg, or any other part of her body, then she would be right. It is her right to do that to “her” body. But the choice of aborting a baby isn’t choosing to do something to do to “her” body, but she is choosing to kill another person while it lives inside her body. What choice does the baby have? I’d say none whatsoever. Abortion simply gives the mother-to-be a choice to rid herself of what she considers to be a mistake.

Abortion at any level is what they promote. While they rant and rave that the government should stay out of their womb, not having the right to tell them that they can’t have an abortion, they expect that same government to pay for it. If they are so hell-bent on the government staying out of it in the first place, then why do they expect government to pay for the abortion and all of the expenses that go with it? Freedom to choose should also mean freedom to pay for it as well.

When a minor child gets pregnant, pro-choice advocates demand that the government help that child get an abortion without even notifying the parent of the pregnancy. You can’t give a child an aspirin without notifying the parent first, yet they are asking that same government to assist in possibly committing a crime. Consider that if that child was raped, the abortion might be removing evidence of a crime. How can they expect the government to assist them, if they expect that same government to stay out of their reproductive business?

While it all seems confusing, it is that way by design of the pro-choice movement. They twist the argument in such a way that it sounds like you are arguing against something that is right, just and legal.

While I will agree that abortion should be an option on rare occasion, it should never have been turned loose to become the monster that it has become. I can somehow imagine that God is somewhere watching us with tear-filled eyes, sad that we have turned into the calloused society that we have. It is truly sad when we care more about an animal’s right than we do about an innocent human being who might be ripped from its mother’s body to be thrown away as simply unwanted.

I can assure you that this is not what God wants us to do, and I know in my heart that we will all have to answer for our actions one day.

Keep that in mind the next time that you argue for another senseless killing of an innocent child that you simply call abortion.
