I believe that trying to force digital TV on all of us is a bad idea. It’s especially bad for poor people who won’t be able to buy cable or a new digital TV right away, if ever.
I really think this is a bad idea for a number of reasons. It could mean the end of tiny, battery-operated TVs and battery-operated TV sound radios. And what if we did get rid of all of our old analog TVs and get digital TV? It would be like getting rid of all of our old classic cars to make way for new cars that would be too complex for some people, and expensive.
Even the late-model analog TVs were too complex for some people. Imagine the complexity of a digital TV.
The news says that new digital TVs might be able to put the owner of the TV in danger of being tracked, like a cell phone can be tracked even when the cell phone is off. I think you would have to smash a cell phone with a hammer to turn it totally off, and it could be the same way with digital TVs. At the very least, digital TVs could cause brain overload and just about drive us crazy like the Internet does.
I’m not a high-tech guy. I don’t have a digital camera. I like cheap regular cameras that work just as well as digital cameras, maybe even better. I don’t have Twitter or Facebook or MySpace. I don’t have a cell phone. I’m the type of guy who just wants a very simple, easy-to-use and reliable TV.
