Your View: Be a man

JOPLIN, Mo. — It wasn’t just one word, Mr. Akin. It was the whole statement that was so completely idiotic, although one wonders how that particular word ever came to be associated with rape in your mind.

How anyone could possibly think that a woman could somehow magically shut down an unwanted pregnancy is a clear signal that they are not thinking at all. I surely don’t want anyone whose thought processes are so warped to be representing me in Congress and I strongly suspect that neither does any woman, or any thinking man.

Unless you step down, you are handing this election to Claire McCaskill. You might as well wrap it up and put a bow on it. Be a man — own your mistake and put the good of your state and your country first.
