SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —
After the devastating tornado of 2011, President Obama visited your city on at least two occasions. He promised to provide “every ounce of federal resources” to aid tornado victims.
House Majority Leader Republican Eric Cantor was more concerned with figuring out a way to offset aid to Joplin with budget cuts. His heartfelt response in the wake of the storm: “If there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental.”
When asked in a primary debate about the disaster relief for tornado victims in Joplin, Mitt Romney called such relief “immoral.”
As a former resident of Joplin, I am stunned that The Joplin Globe has now endorsed Mitt Romney for president. In your time of need, President Obama had your back. If Romney is elected, I pray you do not get what you deserve next time.
