Voices: Needs a memory jog

In 1951, just after my high school graduation, I went to work as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone.

My sister also worked there and I have talked to her as well as a lady in Webb City who also worked there — we all agreed the telephone company was between Third and Fourth streets on Wall Street.

I’m wondering if the building was torn down or if it is the Zahn Apartments. This is the building that I recall as looking similar to the old telephone building. I talked to a lady at the library and she said that the telephone company has never been at that location. Was the telephone company located there for a time while a new facility was being built? We don’t think we’re losing it already but ... maybe someone else working there at the time will remember. Please help us out on our old memories.
