Voices: Four principles

I would like to give you a little background regarding my decision to run for the Joplin School Board.

I believe school board members are elected to represent the people in our district. When elected, I will be a true representative of the people.

My platform is based on four basic principles. They are:

* A better use of our financial resources to provide the best education for our students. We must make good use of every dollar.

* Better use of in-district knowledge and expertise. We must actively seek input from others, not just the superintendent and administrators.

* Better use of public and taxpayer knowledge and expertise. We must all work together as a community to make our children succeed.

* Better preparation of our students to succeed in a global economy. We must use only the best practices in the classrooms to ensure our graduates succeed.
