Voices: ‘Grit and go’

Geoff Caldwell’s considerable, pensive piece on police pursuit wasn’t the last word, as we see recently.

What has not been vocalized in defense of police policy might well be this: Overall, profiling shows that one failing to halt, even when pursued obviously over a distance, is likely to present an equally nasty scene if later served a warrant on another location. It could also be that improper registration will even make location difficult. The officer faces a “grit and go” situation.
