Voices: Commoners

Being an animal lover, I am very impressed with the new shelter we now have to better house the many stray animals that we have around town.

I understand that there is still some $400,000 needed to finish paying for the project.

I am sure that there are some people who could only afford to help by using their hands and labor (common). While some helped with their wallets (wealthy).

Both common and wealthy are very much appreciated and should be. However, I wonder how many “commoners” were able to attend the “Fur Ball” on March 6 at $50 per person.

It seems that you can be a member of the Humane Society for only $10. But, that won’t get you in the door for dinner.

And I can’t help but wonder how many “wealthy” people have adopted pets from the dog pound compared to buying from a puppy mill.
