I believe that the citizens of Jasper County are ready for a change in the office of sheriff. I think the citizens of the county are ready for someone who can bring a spirit of cooperation to the county and other elected officials.
Elected officials are going to disagree from time to time, but it is how those disagreements are handled that is a mark of someone truly trying to serve the people. I believe taxpaying citizens of the county have certain expectations of what the sheriff should do. You want a sheriff that is able to manage his budget and be fiscally responsible. You want your sheriff to strive to serve the people of the county and provide quality law enforcement that includes your protection as well as crime prevention. You want your sheriff to have the experience, education and character to get the job done.
I will meet these expectations. I started out in law enforcement as a night shift patrolman 17 years ago and have worked my way up through the ranks.
Today, as the assistant chief of the Carthage Police Department, I responsibly manage our $2.5 million budget and supervise our 45 employees. I believe that my character speaks for itself. During my years of law enforcement service, I have worked closely with others in the county to get the job done. The character of the candidate should be of the utmost importance in who you chose to vote for. My work ethic and Christian beliefs are not just something I talk about, but are exhibited in the way I make decisions and treat other people.
This is what you need to know when making a decision about a sheriff’s candidate. You need someone that has administrative law enforcement experience; someone that has characteristics of honesty, integrity and professionalism; and someone with a proven track record of exhibiting these qualities.
I would appreciate your vote on Aug. 7.
