Your View: Don’t let Newtown down

LAMAR, Mo. — The president has presented a series of 23 proposals in an attempt to curb gun violence. These seem completely reasonable in every sense of the word.

As the president has observed, if these measures will save even one life then they will be worth the effort. I am dismayed at all of the rhetoric about this issue. There is not the slightest bit of evidence that our Second Amendment rights are going to violated. I have guns and am not the least bit worried. What I am concerned about is that Newtown, Conn., or something similar may occur again.

For the sake of the mothers and fathers of the beautiful children in Newtown and all the others who have lost their lives from gun violence, they must not be let down. The president should be supported.
